Terrazon Group Names New President/CEO Ryan Stubben
Tim Van Barriger and his father started Drill It Underground in December of 2017 and shortly there after, received acceptance as a contractor for a major telecommunications company. The Companies mission was to provide underground boring services for utility and other types of construction projects. The first two years proved to be a grind. Early mornings in the office to prep for the upcoming work that day, and late nights at home completing paperwork, invoicing, and planning for the next day.
Tim never had the vision to have a fancy title or run a large enterprise. His mission was to provide for his family and his employees, deliver quality work that he believed in, and not have to report to a boss.
By 2019, Drill It Underground grew and began to hire additional crew members, which then enabled Tim's father to retire. In 2020, Tim and his wife, Heather, began working with the local Small Business Development Center (SBDC), which provided the resources and knowledge they needed to purchase the business from Tim's father. After the acquisition, Tim and Heather worked closely with the SBDC and Fox Valley Entrepreneurship Center (FVEC), as they could both see great potential in the business's ability to fulfill their dreams.
In the time since, Drill It Underground acquired another utility construction company, which doubled their size and expanded their services nearly overnight. In addition to underground boring, they now provide design and engineering, permitting, aerial construction, fiber placement, splicing and testing services. Drill It Underground had outgrown itself and was rebranded as "Terrazon Group" in order to give customers a clearer picture of what the company was all about.
Eventually, Tim had come to realize that it was not he who drove the success of the business, but the many hardworking and committed individuals he hired and trusted to get the job done. Terrazon Group had exceeded Tim's expectations of what could be accomplished.
The success of the company and the people that work at Terrazon has allowed Tim to retire from the day to day operation while continuing to serve Terrazon Group as Chairman. Ryan Stubben, former COO, has been promoted to the position of President/CEO.
Mr. Van Barriger said “Ryan has demonstrated all the right skills and decision making required of a great leader.” Tim has the utmost confidence in Ryan's ability to continue to move the company forward.
Tim will continue to pioneer Terrazon Group’s philanthropic side in giving back to his community and providing assistance to those in need. He has already started to build a partnership with a national non-for-profit that provides humanitarian aid and disaster response, he is excited about the next chapter and the possibility it brings.
